Cockatoo Island
How to Get There
Hop on a ferryCatching a public ferry is the easiest way to visit us. Harbour City Ferries run regular services to Cockatoo Island every day of the week, departing from Circular Quay and Darling Harbour, as well as from wharves along the F3 Parramatta River ferry route - depending on which way you're coming from.
You can also visit Cockatoo Island by water taxi, private boat or kayak.
Wharf Upgrade to Cockatoo Island
The NSW Government is upgrading Cockatoo Island's main wharf (Parramatta Wharf) from Wednesday 10 May 2017 and will take approximately five months to complete.
During this time, all public ferries will arrive and depart from Camber Wharf on the southern side of the island (Birchgrove side). No changes to ferry timetables are expected.
Ferry Timetables:
* Circular Quay to Cockatoo Island
* Cockatoo Island to Circular Quay
Car parking at ferry wharves
If you’re catching a ferry, you’ll find plenty of on-street parking close to the wharves at Woolwich, Greenwich, Chiswick, Huntleys Point, Drummoyne, Birchgrove and Balmain.
The Valentia Street wharf at Woolwich is the closest stop to Cockatoo – it’s just a five-minute ferry ride away and has unmetered parking so you can stay all day (ferry times for this Woolwich wharf are on the above time-tables)
