Nick Collerson
Nick draws his own subjects and themes from a combination of personal experience, history and poetry, and in his workshops he extends this approach, working with each student’s personal history and individual style to develop a unique visual language.
These workshops are based around still-life painting as Nick believes that this genre offers the perfect opportunity to explore the dynamics between drawing and painting, colour mixing and the materiality of paint within a composition. The fundamentals of painting can be explored in diverse and interesting ways, giving students basic tools they can then use in other genres of painting. Nick encourages in students the confidence to experiment with different elements and discover how each particular painting might work. Nick Collerson teaches painting at the National Art School, has a Master of Fine Art (Honors) from the National Art School, has worked at the Royal College of Art in London and he is represented by the Liverpool St Gallery in Sydney. www.liverpoolstgallery.com.au/public_panel/index.phpom/ |
